Oranges are a high vitamin C nutrition. Vitamin C in oranges is great for eye health. This vitamin helps to visualize by reducing the risk of cataracts, helping to maintain healthy blood vessels and reducing eye strain as we age.

Oranges are also high in beta-carotene, a component of the body used to make vitamin A, which helps us see in low light conditions. Vitamin A deficiency is the number one cause of blindness in children. Every year, an estimated 250,000-500,000 children are blinded by this vitamin deficiency.

The use of flavanones, a compound found in oranges and grapefruit, has been shown to reduce the risk of stroke. Stroke occurs when blood vessels that supply the brain become clogged, and accounts for about 87% of all strokes.

The findings are the result of a large study conducted at Norwich Medical School that analyzed the diet of nearly 70,000 women over a 14-year period. The researchers found that women who consumed large amounts of flavanones had a 19% lower risk of stroke than women who consumed at least 19% of flavanones. Taking vitamin C in oranges can also help protect against strokes, which are less common but are life-threatening. Recent studies have found that, on average, people who have had a stroke are lower than vitamin C, while those without a stroke have normal levels of this vitamin. In addition, citrus juice also improves blood flow.

Dietary fiber reduces the risk of colon cancer, while fruit generally reduces the risk of lung, stomach, mouth, throat and esophageal cancer, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Laboratory tests have found that the components in oranges have the ability to fight against cancer, including anti-cancer, lung, breast, stomach, intestines, skin and mouth.

4. Oranges help skin stay healthy
Oranges are loaded with vitamin C, which helps the body synthesize collagen, a protein essential for building healthy skin. The high beta-carotene component of oranges also helps the body produce and process vitamin A, which helps the growth of skin cells.

5. Oranges help to repair the body
Vitamin C in oranges is essential for the growth and repair of tissues throughout the body. According to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, vitamin C helps heal wounds and maintain healthy bones and teeth. Vitamin C also helps the production of collagen needed to build cartilage, blood vessels and skin.

It has also been found that regular consumption of vitamin C can have a good effect on recovery from severe physical activity. A two-week study found that participants taking 400 milligrams of vitamin C daily could help build muscle and reduce muscle soreness after exercise.
