A Singaporean court has sentenced a British man to six weeks in prison after repeatedly violating the law on Covid by refusing to wear a face mask in public, foreign media reported.
CNA reports that 40-year-old Benjamin Glynn was found guilty of four counts of first-degree failure to wear a mask on a train in May. Appearing in court in July, third, causing public disturbance, and fourth, using threatening words to public officials. The British man was sent by a judge for a psychological evaluation because of his actions and speeches in court.
On Wednesday, Benjamin Glynn asked the court to drop what he called "illegal charges" and to return his passport so he could return. He returned to England to reunite with his family, but was unsuccessful.
Please note that Singapore has strict law enforcement and has imprisoned and fined individuals who violate Covid 19 prevention regulations. Some foreigners have had their work permits revoked for violating the law and others have been imprisoned.
