The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has announced that a number of packaged noodle products from the Vietnamese noodle maker Acecook, which is also Japanese-invested, have been recalled for possession of pesticides. Unauthorized ethylene oxide particles.
Packaged noodles found to contain this substance include Hao Hao Noodles, Tong Yam Shrimp Noodles and Good Pork Rib Noodles. This is according to the announcement of FSAI on its website.
In addition to the two Vietnamese-made products, the recalled noodles also include Chinese Yato seafood noodles.
FSAI says it has found ethylene oxide, an unapproved pesticide in food sold in the European Union.
"Although the use of products containing this substance does not pose a serious health risk, there may be health problems if continued for long-term use," the statement said. Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimized.
In response to the recall, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health said on Saturday that the Vietnam Food Administration under its control would ask the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which is in charge of handling instant noodles, to clarify the case.
