The Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine, funded by the US government and people through the first phase of the Covax Center, arrived in Cambodia this morning, July 30, 2021.
The handover ceremony took place at Phnom Penh International Airport, with Mr. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, representing the Royal Government of Cambodia, and Mr. Benjamin Wohlauer, US Acting Ambassador to Cambodia, and representatives from the World Health Organization. He and also a representative of UNICEF in Cambodia.
Please be informed that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a US aid that was delivered to Cambodia this morning, July 30, 2021, is 500,000 doses out of 1 million doses. The remaining vaccines will arrive on August 2, 2021.
A statement from the US Embassy in Phnom Penh said the assistance was part of the United States' continued support for the Cambodian people and the region as it seeks to recover from a serious pandemic.
