China's COVID19 vaccine Sinopharm and Sinovac recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO)

 The head of the World Health Organization (SAGE) advisory council, Alejandro Cravioto, on Wednesday (March 31), according to Reuters, data on the COVID-19 vaccine of Chinese pharmaceutical companies Sinopharm and Sinovac. These vaccines have been shown to be effective in line with the standards required by the WHO, and the council hopes to issue recommendations on them by the end of April.

Cravioto said the information shared by the company at a meeting with SAGE last week made it clear that the vaccine was effective in line with the WHO requirements for all vaccines before it was available. Approval for use. This means that these vaccines must be about 50% to 70% effective, as their data show that they are not harmful to consumers.

He added that as a first step, vaccines may need to be registered for immediate use by the WHO or any agency that SAGE considers a competent authority before SAGE experts can recommend their use.

It should be noted that Sinovac vaccine is effective between 50.65% to 83.5%, according to data from trials in Brazil, Turkey and Indonesia. Data on the Sinopharm vaccine have not been released to the public, but it is claimed to be 79.34% effective by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products.
