Myanmar people boycott military products and services

The people of Myanmar are launching a campaign to "stop buying military products" as a sign of protest against the country's current political conflict.


A movement urging Myanmar people not to buy and use products related to the Tatmadaw took place on February 3.

It is also seen as a sign of support for democracy and Aung San Suu Kyi-elected civilian government, as well as against the military dictatorship and the declaration of a one-year state of emergency.


Tatmadaw forces are associated with a large number of businesses in various fields. These include food and beverage products, cigarettes, entertainment industry, internet service providers, banks, financial enterprises, hospitals, oil companies and wholesale markets, and retail and other businesses.

Specific products include Myanmar Beer, Dagon Beer, Mandalay Beer, Mytel Telecommunications Services, Ruby Cigarettes, Nann Myaing & Pyin Oo Lwin Coffee, Shwe Phi Oo Tea, Kantharyar Private Hospital, 7th Sense Film Production and Shwe Mann Thu & Shan Ma Highway Services. Lay.

Meanwhile, some celebrities also posted on their Facebook page that they have expressed a similar intention to stop using the services provided by telecommunications services. They also announced that they would not support or work with any corporation involved in the armed forces.
