All schools in a Thai city open for half an hour and close after Covid-19 test positive

All 15 schools in Mae Sot, Thailand, were ordered to close on Monday morning, less than an hour after reopening, after it was discovered that some children had tested positive for Covid-19.

Mae Sot is located in Tak Province, Thailand, bordering Myanmar.

Today marks the first day that schools across Thailand have been allowed to reopen by the Covid-19 Centers for Disease Control (CCSA) after a new wave of Covid-19 cases reported since December.

According to a source, the order came after a trader in Mae Sot district tested positive for cases of Covid-19 and was taken to Mae Sot Hospital with 25 people close to him.

The source said: "Last night, January 31, additional test results showed that five children related to the patient were also infected. "This has led to the closure of communities where patients live, as well as 15 schools in the city."

As of Monday, Tak province had reported 144 cases of Covid-19 infection during the outbreak, with 49 patients being treated, 93 recovered and two dead.
