Thailand announces closure of more than 10,000 schools after Covid 19


 More than 10,000 schools in at least 28 of Thailand's provinces will be closed until Jan. 31 to conduct distance learning instead to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Thailand is re-infecting the community after months of silence.

On the resort island of southern Phuket, Governor Narong Woonciew has ordered all schools closed from tomorrow until January 20 as a precautionary measure. The closure of schools on Phuket Island comes as some locals are worried about the number of tourists from other provinces visiting the island during the New Year holidays.

Meanwhile, the director of the Thai Ministry of Education, Nataphol Teepsuwan, also ordered the closure of all schools, both private and public, in the affected provinces. According to a report from the Bangkok Post, a large number of provinces are most affected, including Bangkok, Tak, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Nakhon Nayok, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon. Pathom, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Samut Prakan, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Trat, Rayong, Chumphon and Ranong.

The move by the Thai Ministry of Education took place in early 2020 during the first wave of Covid, so all schools will be set up to teach online in accordance with Thai Ministry of Education standards. Teachers will be asked to prepare study materials for all students to study remotely in the platform of the Thai Ministry of Education.
