Two women died and 11 were hospitalized after a rice harvester poisoned a well

 


Kampong Chhnang Province: A case of a farmer, young and old, male and female, went to harvest rice, water poisoning caused the death of two women and 11 people were hospitalized in Kampong Chhnang province in Chi Prang village, Chiep commune, Teuk Phos district. According to a report from the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Health Department, from November 23, 2020 to November 25, 2020, the villagers of Chi Prang, young and old, went to harvest rice at the scene. It is said that on the morning of November 24, at around 11 noon, after the rice harvest break, they went to fetch water from a well dug in the field to get water to share for lunch. That morning, a farmer was seen growing watermelon nearby after spraying poisonous chemicals on his watermelon crop and rinsing it with water from a well that the harvesters had gone to fetch water from the well.

After drinking the water for a while, a woman vomited, but no one noticed the chemical poisoning, thought it was wind. Shortly afterwards, two people died of fatigue, headache, soft hands and feet, difficulty breathing, and 10 others were rushed to Kampong Chhnang Provincial Hospital, one of whom was in critical condition.

On November 27, the condition of 10 victims was relieved and returned to their respective homes, leaving only a 53-year-old woman recovering from the poisoning but still undergoing treatment for pneumonia. More.
