Typhoon Molave kills at least nine in Philippines before heading to Vietnam


 Typhoon Molave ​​affected more than 900,000 people in the Philippines before it left around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. The Philippine Meteorological Agency said it is likely to expand further when it reaches the sea and peaks within 24 hours. According to the regional meteorological center, the northern part of Vietnam's central highlands, where its coffee is grown, is expected to receive 200 mm of rain from Tuesday evening.

Typhoon Molave ​​has been pounding the Philippines since Sunday, flooding villages and low-lying areas, cutting power lines and destroying hundreds of homes as it passes through the archipelago as thousands of people are evacuated to evacuation centers. The National Disaster Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has warned that the death toll could rise further as local authorities assess the damage in their area.

At least three of the nine dead were drowned and 12 were still missing. More than 70,000 people are still in more than 800 evacuation centers. The Philippines is hit by an average of 20 typhoons and typhoons every year, which is a dangerous and disruptive part of the country.
