Police in Kampot Province have repeatedly told the Post that two building owners were immediately detained by authorities. Shortly after the seven-story building was under construction, it collapsed on the afternoon of January 3, 2020.
The owner of the detained building, Ek Sarun (husband) and Chiv Sothy (wife), currently lives in Village 1, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.
Brigadier General Ben Dara, the police chief in Kep, said that after the arrest, the Kep police sent the owner of the building. This is going to court and they are still being questioned by the Kep prosecutor.
On January 3, 2020 at 16:30, a 7-story building collapsed in Kep Village, Sangkat Kep, City. Kep, Kep Province. After that, competent authorities of all departments conducted rescue intervention with the engine until 4:45 pm on January 4, 2020. There were 23 victims, five of whom died.
