The National Health Service (NHS) has reported a blood clot in people who have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 strain AstraZeneca.
However, Dr. Theodore Warkentin, a professor of pathology and molecular medicine at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, explained that the AstraZeneca vaccine seems to cause some people to develop antibodies too quickly that target proteins in the human body. Blood cell factor (PF4), which stimulates blood cells to act and cause blood clots.
Warkentin says it is a vaccine-induced antibody and in some cases the blood clotting results are abnormal.
However, AstraZeneca noted in a statement that the effects of the vaccine 's blood clotting are rare and may appear between 4 days and 4 weeks after vaccination.
These are the signs of a blood clot after the AstraZeneca vaccine:
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Swollen feet
Abdominal pain does not go away
Nervous system symptoms such as severe headache and persistent pain or blurred vision
Small blood clots appear under the skin outside the injection site.
If you have any of these signs, see your doctor immediately.
