Thai army chief orders funeral arrangements for Covid-19 Due to the high death toll

BANGKOK: Thai Army Chief of Staff General Narongphan Jitkaewtae on Friday ordered the army to take part in arranging a funeral for those killed by COVID-19. This is according to the release by The Nation on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

According to Narongphan Jitkaewtae, every army unit has a funeral unit that is responsible for arranging funerals for the dead. Jitkaewtae added that the army will collect the bodies as well as identify the bodies to facilitate the families of the victims in cremation. Funeral services can also use their skills and knowledge to collect bodies on the battlefield to help the families of those killed by COVID-19 to prepare for the funeral.

The Thai Ministry of Health on Saturday, July 24, 2021 reported 14,260 new cases of COVID-19 infection and 119 deaths in the last 24 hours.

To date, Thailand has recorded a total of 481,967 cases nationwide, with 3,930 deaths and 327,789 cases. For vaccination, Thailand achieved 15.4 million doses, of which 3.58 million people (5.1% of the total population) received all doses.
