Suspected wife crosses Covid! Husband takes wife and children across Thailand to Cambodia

Banteay Meanchey Province: A family of traders at a Rong Klue market returned from Thailand on foot to risk Cambodian territory after a woman fell ill and was suspected of contracting Covid-19 and was arrested by police. Border guards cooperate with the front line military forces to stop questioning in time.

This incident happened on the morning of July 25, 2021 in front of Star Golf in Samaki Meanchey Village, Sangkat Poipet, Poipet City.

According to the border police, the family consists of 5 people (3 children, 1 boy) who are traders in Rong Klue market, Aranya district, Sa Kaeo province and live in Poipet commune, Poipet city.

According to the source, the family was detained by the front line forces, including the 911th Border Guard Police and the 51st Military Division, in front of the Star Golf in Samaki Meanchey Village, Poipet Sangkat, Poipet City on the morning of July 25, 2021. They cross the border from Thailand into Cambodia on their own.

According to the source, after questioning the family, they said that they had contacted two suspects to help cross the border in the early hours of July 24, 2021, but the two suspects were detained by the authorities. Due to the family situation (wife) fell ill and could not stay in Thailand, they were forced to cross the border into Cambodia on their own.

Sources said that after questioning and making notes, the family was sent by military vehicle to be interrogated at a location in Poipet. Sources said that after testing this family, it was found that there was indeed a person born with Covid-19, but it was considered very lucky that the front line forces prevented and knew in time not to spread to others.
