Phnom Penh: About 100 workers at Yang Dong 1 Co., Ltd. erupted in protest for the factory owner to pay 5% of their salary along with their minimum wage. 3:40 pm, May 27, 2021, along the concrete road in Sangkat Kakap II, Khan Por Sen Chey.
Sources from the workers said that they have been working in Yangdong 1 Co., Ltd. for 4 to 5 years. In the past, there was a slight inconvenience in the payment of salaries, but until May 27, 2021, the factory did not pay the salary as scheduled on the 25th, so they came together. They went to ask the factory administration, but they told them that they had no money to pay, so they were upset and protested for more than two days in a row, so the factory representative agreed to come out and tell them. Reach out to workers to wait until June 10, 2021, then the factory will pay the minimum wage for all of them, while 5% will be paid on June 30, 2021.
Sources said that the factory representatives just told this, but there was no proper contract, so they protested, requesting the district authorities to help find a solution for them as workers if the factory. Pay them and they will return to work as usual.
