INDONESIA: Many people recently expressed surprise over a wedding between a 58-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl. The elderly groom, known as Bora, initially asked the bride's mother to marry him, but she refused and offered to marry her eldest daughter instead.
According to Kompas, the wedding took place on April 7, 2021 and took place smoothly in Bana village, Bontocani district, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, with a dowry of approximately 10 million rupees (or about 680 US dollars) and plus 1 hectare of land.
According to sources, Bora is an old man who used to live alone, while his young wife is the eldest child in a family of three siblings and their parents have been separated for some time. For a long time, the burden of raising children fell on a mother who was a farmer.
Around the wedding, Ishak, the village chief of Bana, said that the ceremony took place with the consent of both parties, that is, because of mutual love.
