Sri Lanka: A Sri Lankan lawmaker decided to eat raw fish during a press conference to encourage people to buy fish and boost the declining fish industry due to the presence of Covid 19.
Dilip Wedaarachchi, a former lawmaker who served as the country's fisheries minister, told a news conference:
I am calling on the people of Sri Lanka to return to eating fish. Do not be afraid, Covid 19 will not infect you just by eating fish.
The global Covid 19 pandemic caused a sharp decline in the Sri Lankan fish industry when an outbreak of Covid 19 infection was seen at one of the largest fish markets. In the capital city of Colombo, Sri Lanka, people are afraid that fish can transmit Covid 19.
