Of course not? New study shows that Covid 19 has been present in Italy since early September 2019.

A new study finds that Covid 19 was active and present in Italy months before it was officially discovered, raising further questions about the origin, extent and duration of the disease. This one pandemic.

A new study by scientists at the Milan Institute of Cancer and the University of Siena was published this week in the journal Tumori. The study was based on the analysis of blood samples from 959 people collected during lung cancer screening between September 2019 and March 2020.

More than 11 percent of the 111 people tested showed coronavirus-related antibodies. All those tested did not show any symptoms and did not show any signs of the disease. Twenty-three positive results have been available since September 2019, indicating that the virus did exist in Italy early last summer, about six months before the outbreak began and reached Italy.

Preliminary research has already shown that the coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and became a pandemic in January 2020. But data from Italian researchers are particularly valuable because they are based on real blood samples, compared to previous findings that did not have clear conclusions that also suggested that epidemiological timing may be incorrect.

Meanwhile, the new study is consistent with reports of severe respiratory symptoms and the common cold among Italy's elderly by the end of 2019.

Similar findings have been made by scientists from other countries as well. Spanish researchers claim they found the coronavirus in a sewage sample taken in early March 2019.

More than 54 million people are reported to have contracted Covid 19 disease worldwide, and 1,312,334 died.
