The Royal Government of Japan, through JICA, has provided a total of $ 234.6 million in concessional loans to Cambodia for emergency assistance programs in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
According to a press release issued by JICA on November 18, 2020, the current concessional lending is aimed at enhancing the economic stability and development efforts of the Cambodian government, including: Strengthening the health system. Social assistance programs, logistics networks, physical infrastructure affected by the Covi-19 crisis.
As a development partner, JICA has always adhered to a joint approach to support the Cambodian government in addressing challenges and continuing to work with Cambodia to fight Covid 19.
In this context, JICA is supporting the renovation of the hospital and the installation of new medical equipment at the Battambang Provincial Referral Hospital and the Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital. Phnom Penh to prevent infection.
At the same time, JICA is implementing a technical cooperation project to strengthen the capacity of officials working in the health sector by sending expertise to Cambodia and organizing training for officials.
