Banan Temple Natural Cultural Tourism Resort

 

Banan Temple is a natural cultural tourism site with an ancient temple called Banan Temple located on the top of Banan Mountain. This resort is located south of Battambang provincial town, about 20.20 km from Battambang Provincial Hall to Banan Temple. Tourists can travel by car and motorbike from Battambang provincial town on P151 and 800 along the Sangker River. It is located in Banan village, Kantea Pei commune, Banan district.

Banan Temple was built in the middle of the 11th century and the end of the 12th century. The first king to build was Udayadityavarman II (1050-1066), later succeeded by Jayavarman VII (1181-1219). This tower is built on the top of Banan Mountain, stacked like Angkor Wat, but a separate structure made of brick, limestone and sandstone. HENRY MOUHOT, a French archaeologist who discovered Angkor Wat, reported 140 years ago that the water in the sacred cave, which drank it, brought to light the past, the future and the present. The name of the cave at that time was called Preah Teuk Cave (Sacred Water Cave).

The resort has a temple on the top of the mountain, and at the foot of the mountain there is a moat and two main caves, a cave named Angkor Cave covered with gold, which means that the walls are covered with gold, although they can not find gold there, you can see the water Strange light drips from the roof of the cave and another cave named Laong Chhoung is called Choung Achey. At the foot of the mountain and at the top of the mountain, there is a dense forest of small and large forests that provide cool shade. Visitors can hear the cries of the animals, breathe the fresh air and relax in the cool cave. In the courtyard, there is a restaurant and a stall selling local produce in good order and security. In addition, visitors can travel up a staircase made of laterite with a dragon handrail from the foot of the mountain to the top of the temple, and there are two foot rests. More importantly, in the cave on the mountain, there are beautiful forests and many kinds of animals.
