A man hanged his pregnant wife almost every month to give birth because he was upset with his mother and blamed his aunt for borrowing 200,000 riel. This incident happened and caused a surprise at 6 am on September 30, 2020 at a plot of land in Doeum Kor village, Sangkat Prek Ta Sek, Khan Chroy Changva.
The man who killed himself, 27-year-old Pov Thearo, had a job building a wedding and a festival hall in the village where the incident took place. Roeun Saroeun, 33, is 9 months pregnant and about to give birth.
The victim's wife said that since living together as a couple, she and her husband have never had a serious quarrel. At around 6 pm on September 29, her husband (the victim) borrowed 200,000 riel from his aunt to repay him, and the mother blamed him a little for why he owed her money again. At that time, her husband did not respond, leaving the house, but the family thought that he went to his house as usual. In the morning, her husband was found strangled to death.
After the incident, the authorities intervened to examine the victim's body and found that the victim actually committed suicide and also handed over the body to the family for a traditional ceremony.
