Indian villagers kidnap crocodile for money

India: Villagers from northern India are shocked when they see a 2-meter-long crocodile lurking in a pond in their area.

According to officials, the crocodile came from a nearby nature reserve and appeared in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Midania region after flash floods caused by a monsoon on Tuesday. August 8, earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the villagers caught the crocodile and demanded 50,000 rupees (approximately $ 680) before they agreed to release it. And police, along with local authorities, spent hours persuading them to release the crocodiles. However, officials threatened the villagers, declaring that they could face up to seven years in prison for violating the law.

However, the crocodile was finally released back into the Ghagra River the same day. And the villagers do not really know that crocodiles are protected by law. In this regard, it is important for officials to educate people to understand more about wildlife.
