In early 2020, a painful case occurred in which the victim, Chhorn Chheak, husband and wife, Sok Srey Neang, a casino employee in Poipet, was sued by a retired official for stealing $ 2,000 and was represented by prosecutors. Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court charged and then 5 judges: 1-Judge Lim Sokuntheara, 2-Judge Nguon Rattanak, 3-Judge Thai Kim Mony, 4-Judge Pheng Kosal, 5-Judge Nhim Pisal, including clerk Hun Chetra Each was sentenced to five years in prison.
According to the families of the two victims, Sok Srey Neang used to work as a laborer at Svay Sunheng's house in Kampong Cham province from 2011 to 2013. While with the family, Svay Sunheng repeatedly raped her and threatened not to sue her. Later, when Sok Srey Neang became pregnant, he broke up with his wife named Svay Sun Heng. At that time, Svay Sunheng and Sok Srey Neang wrote a letter on October 17, 2013.
After that, Sok Srey Neang left to work as a casino employee in Poipet, also knew Chhorn Chheak who worked there and rented a room to live together as a couple.
On June 15, 2017, Svay Sunheng followed her to a rented room when she was alone and asked her to reconcile, but she refused. At that time, Svay Sunheng threatened that if she did not go with me, I would sue her and her husband and put her in jail. At that time, Svay Sunheng refused to leave her room. Fearing that her husband would see a bigger problem, she told Svay Sunheng that she would now go out and look at the land she had just bought, and she and Svay Sunheng left the rented room.
Later in the evening (same day), Chhorn Chheak, her husband, came to see the locked room and called to ask for his wife. Suddenly, Svay Sunheng snatched Sok Srey Neang's mobile phone and said to Chhorn Chheak, her husband: I have returned to take my wife.
Waiting for his wife for a long time, Chhorn Chheak opened the door to the rented room and saw a bag of clothes in the room and knew it was Svay Sunheng's bag, so he threw the bag out of the room.
When Svay Sunheng and Sok Srey Neang arrived, Svay Sunheng shouted that he had lost $ 2,000 and that he had not opened his wallet.
Due to the allegations made by Svay Sunheng, the military police came to investigate and made a report, but did not find any evidence or witnesses to prove that Chhorn Chheak stole $ 2,000. As for Sok Srey Neang, she could not be a thief anymore because at that time, Sok Srey Neang went with Svay Sunheng, when did she steal the money named Svay Sun Heng left in the rented room?
This story is supposed to be over by now, suddenly, at the beginning of 2020, the Banteay Meanchey provincial police came to enforce the order of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court and arrested them both secretly and sentenced them in absentia to 5 years imprisonment The most unfair.
After being detained for more than four months, the two victims decided to appeal to the Battambang Court of Appeal until the court decided to drop the charges and release them on September 25, 2020.
