Peacock mushrooms in the jungle cost no less than 10,000 riel this rainy season


 This rainy season makes the people in Vern Sai district, Ratanakkiri province happy with the business of removing peacock mushrooms in the jungle for food and the rest can sell some to increase income for the family. This is according to the announcement from the Ministry of Environment on August 10.

Thon Sou Khon, deputy director of the Vern Sai Siem Pang National Park Office of the Ratanakkiri provincial environment department, said that during the rainy season, some protected areas provided peacock mushrooms and other wild vegetables. The mushrooms he picks up for eating and the rest can be sold to the Balong market for 1 kg for 10,000 to 12,000 riel. After two or three days of continuous rain, the people of Vern Sai district can find between 5 and 10 kg of peacock mushrooms per family, and the villagers earn a total of about 300 per day. 500 kg sold in the market. This peacock mushroom is so delicious that it can be used in cooking, such as frying and boiling.
