Officials in the Malaysian federal government could face disciplinary action or dismissal if they do not vaccinate against Covid 19 under the new vaccination policy, which takes effect on November 1.
According to Bernama, the directive, signed by Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman, director general of the Department of Public Services (PSD), states that "on or after November 1, 2021, "The head of the department can cause discipline or termination of employment."
The PSD also issued a statement on September 30 announcing that all federal officials must receive the full dose of Covid 19 vaccine before November 1.
In the latest circular, the PSD said that officials who could not be vaccinated against Covid 19 due to health reasons could be referred for a medical check-up.
At the same time, they may be instructed by their department head to take the Covid test if they are confirmed unable to be vaccinated for health reasons.
As of now, almost 98 percent of civil servants have been vaccinated, while 1.6 percent, or 16,902, have not registered for vaccination.
Meanwhile, the latest figures provided by the Ministry of Health show that as of Tuesday, 94 per cent of Malaysia's adult population had completed two doses of Covid 19 vaccine.
