British scientists develop an anti-viral nasal spray that injects two drops into each nostril, protecting Covid for eight hours.

British scientists have developed an antiviral nasal spray that reduces the chances of Covid infection.

Its creators say that two shots in each nostril protect Covid for up to eight hours.

They believe that pHOXWELL sprays can play an important role in providing extra protection to vulnerable patients in hospitals and nursing homes and encouraging staff to return to the office.

NHS Cardiac Surgeon and Entrepreneur Professor Rakesh Uppal, chairman of Raphael Labs, the company behind the innovation, said it was a "significant breakthrough". "Fight this epidemic."

"Vaccination, although absolutely necessary, is not 100 percent effective and it can still infect and transmit the virus that causes Covid 19."

He said the spray provides extra protection over vaccines and PPE coats because it prevents the virus, Sars-CoV-2, from infecting the nasal mucosa, which is an important entry point for the body.

The shooting was tested on more than 600 un vaccinated health workers in India at the peak of its Covid wave last summer.

Two-thirds of those who injected pHOXWELL were less likely to be infected with Covid in 45 days than their colleagues who were given a regular nasal spray.

The main purpose is to help protect the millions of people in developing countries who do not have access to the Covid 19 vaccine. The spray is easy to transport and store stably at temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius. Source: Daily Mail
