It's not over yet! Cambodia asks Thailand to cooperate in providing official documents related to the construction of temples in Borei Ram

Phnom Penh: Ms. Phoeung Sakona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, requested the Thai side to cooperate in providing specific information and official documents on the project to build a stone temple in Borei Ram province.

She made this request during a working meeting with Mr. Panyarak Poolthup, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Cambodia on August 4, 2021.

On that occasion, the discussion also mentioned the case of information on the project to build a stone temple in Borei Ram province, which social media and the media reported that there was a copy of the architecture of Angkor Wat. The news was met with outrage from both countries.

In this regard, the Minister requested the Thai side to cooperate in providing specific information and official documents on the project of construction of the stone temple in Borei Ram province, so that the Cambodian side has a basis to review the decision to avoid. Any negative effects that may occur and affect the relationship between the two countries. The Thai Ambassador accepted the request and promised to respond to the request of the Cambodian side in a spirit of deep cooperation.

In addition, as the Chair of the UNESCO National Commission for Cambodia, the Minister also joined in congratulating Thailand on the inclusion of Kaeng Krachan Forest in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Please be reminded that on July 5, on the social network Facebook, there was a post about the Thai side planning to build the second temple of Angkor Wat or the temple, which is called the temple of Sihanoukville. Angkor Wat II held its first groundbreaking ceremony on April 5, 2021 at Wat Phuman Pha Phaya Chang Rang, Ban Nong Burai Village, Ban Sing Commune, Neang Rang District, Borei Rom Province, with the intention of completing construction between 7 8 more years. The Ministry of Culture then sent officers to investigate the case, with the results showing that the chief abbot of Wat Phu Man Fa claimed to have been styled and designed by a Thai engineer.
