Thailand claims highest Covid death, breaks new record with nearly 10,000 cases

In the last 24 hours, the death toll from Covid -19 has risen to an all-time high of 98 and 9,186 new cases, the health ministry said Thursday morning.

Of the new infections, 9,107 were in the general population and 79 were inmates.

Meanwhile, 5,543 Covid patients recovered and were released from the hospital within the last 24 hours.

Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid erupted, 343,352 Covid patients, 238,701, had been cured.

Since the outbreak earlier this year, a total of 372,215 cases have been reported, of which 266,127 have been cured.

The death toll in the third wave was 2,938, bringing the total since the outbreak earlier last year to 3,032.

The previous highest death toll from Covid in Thailand was 91 on July 10.
