WHO: Only 0.2% of poor countries use COVID-19 vaccine

According to the CGTN on Sunday, April 11, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) says that the vast majority of COVID-19 vaccines are given in rich countries, while poor countries or Low-income people get only 0.2 percent of the vaccine.

According to the WHO, out of a total of more than 700 million doses given to people around the world, more than 87 percent of rich countries and less than poor countries receive the vaccine. Only 0.2 percent of these vaccines.

The WHO-led COVAX program, which aims to distribute vaccines transparently, is facing a shortage of vaccines due to restrictions on vaccine exports from a number of major powers. COVAX has so far distributed about 38 million doses of the vaccine, contrary to expectations of nearly 100 million doses by the end of March.
