A man was arrested on suspicion of intentionally using violence to attempt to kill his wife by stabbing her in the neck with a machete due to jealousy, which occurred on January 27, 2021.
According to the police, the victim's wife, 60-year-old Hun Yun, lives in Village 4, Treng Trayeung Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province. As for the perpetrator, her husband was named Hem Kreung, male, 48 years old, living in the above area together.
The woman described to authorities that before the incident, his wife had an argument with him at about 8 am. As the argument escalated, the strong husband threatened to kill her for a moment, her anger subside, and she pulled out a machete and tried to kill him, but she escaped. After suffering minor injuries to his shoulder and earlobe, her husband grabbed her by the wrists and neck, then tried to move, then ran out of the house, shouting for the villagers to help and report to the authorities for intervention.
Police confirmed that after the incident, police arrested the suspect and confiscated a machete. The reason for the violence to the point of attempting to kill the wife was because of jealousy of the wife with the neighbors.
Authorities brought the suspect to the Phnom Sruoch District Police Inspectorate for questioning and to build a case for legal action.
