Iraqi war veteran sues US Department of Defense over loud gunfire

A former soldier is suing the Ministry of Defense after he claimed that the sound of gunfire left him deaf.

Louis Kinsley, 34, a veteran of the Iraq War, is seeking more than ១៤ 142,000 in compensation, saying his hearing loss was related to his time in the Army Corps of Engineers in 2002. Until 2008.

Supreme Court documents say the ex-soldier was regularly hit by more than 90 decibel noises during live-fire exercises.

He is said to have been affected by the sound of generators, drills and explosives during the engineering training.

And there are allegations that he was not properly trained in the use of ear protection.

The veteran, who was deployed in Iraq after the 2003 invasion, also served in Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom.

He accused the Defense Department of negligence. He is said to have received compensation last year, but the amount he owed should have been more than worth it.

However, the ministry did not comment on the case.
