Cambodia exports 14 agricultural products in 9 months by 2020


 In the first nine months of 2020, Cambodia exported nearly 6 million tons of agricultural products to foreign markets, a good growth Better compared to previous years, even though Cambodia faced the Covid 19 crisis. Of all the agricultural products exported, 14 were the most exported and with good growth.

According to Mr. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, 14 agricultural products are supported in the international market. Including: 488,775 tons of rice, an increase of 22.63 percent compared to the first nine months of 2019 (398 586 tons) exported to 60 countries. 1,392,306 tons of rice, a decrease of about 17% compared to 2019, exported to Vietnam (unofficially).

Please also note that Cambodia does not want to export rice because it causes loss of bran and rice husks. 3 204,208 tons of cashew nuts increased by 20.5%, exported to Vietnam, Japan, Russia, China, Hong Kong, France, Korea, Turkey , Bangladesh and Thailand. Four 193,950 tons of corn were exported to Thailand, Korea and Taiwan. 5 fresh bananas 235,171.63 tons, an increase of 225.69%, exported to China, Vietnam and Japan.

6 grapefruit 15,150 tons to Thailand. 7,998.64 tons of mango candy, exported to China, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Philippines and Vietnam. 8 1,780,496 tons of fresh cassava were exported to Vietnam and Thailand, both officially and informally. 9 slices of dried cassava 1,202,644.81 tons exported to Thailand and Vietnam (official). 10,002 tons of cassava flour decreased by 56.72%, exported to India, China, Belgium, Netherlands, Pakistan Kyrgyzstan, Czech Republic, Croatia and Italy.

11 fresh mangoes, 62,920.56 tons, an increase of 158.83%, exported to Thailand, Vietnam, France, Russia, Korea and Hong Kong. 12,421,95 tons of pepper, an increase of 123.76%, exported to Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany Tongan, Swiss, Vietnamese, American, Russian, English, Indian, Belarusian, Korean, Czech, Norwegian Thailand, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Sweden, Singapore and Australia. 13 fresh peppers, 55,154.60 tons and dried peppers 1,500 tons, a double increase compared to 2019 exports to Thailand. 14 87.57 tons of vegetables exported to France, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has concluded that the growth of Cambodia's agricultural sector during the 19-Covid crisis has made Cambodia a little better. In the realm of economics, the bank projected the Cambodian economy from minus 5.5 percent to minus 4 percent.
