What operating system does President Vladimir Putin use today?

Some new images have emerged showing President Putin working at his office in the Kremlin, and it is clear that his desktop computer is still running Windows XP.

Russian leaders still rely on the operating system, which was released in 2001 and has not been updated for five years.

According to Open Media, Windows XP (developed in the late 90s) is Microsoft's latest operating system that is officially licensed for Russian government computers. Putin had previously said it was a US CIA project and US operations were confusing and difficult to use.
Russia plans to change the global internet in the coming decades and create its own national broadband network. The country wants to replace the operating systems made by Apple and Microsoft, and instead the Russian operating system.

Putin also signed a law requiring that all cell phones, TVs and computers brought to Russia be installed in Russia.
